We Believe you have the right to know what you can expect from us! The Dream Builders Fundamentals of Success are the attitudes and behaviors critical to our success.

1. Value safety. Always play by the rules. The safety of our team, subcontractors and clients must be paramount.

2. A clean site is a safe site. A clean site reveals pride in our workplace, impresses clients, and illustrates our best habits. A clean site makes people happy and efficient, including the subcontractors too!

3. Each client should feel like they are the most important part of the project. Get to know and care about our clients. Who are their kids and their pets? What can we do to personalize experiences and gifts?

4. Use proactive communication. Be sure we reach out to update our clients before they ask us, “What’s up?”

5. Get clear about expectations & deadlines. Make promises that you can keep, and keep the promises you make. When you present a deadline to someone else, verify their acceptance and commitment to live up to it.

6. Don’t be afraid of hearing “No.” In order for someone to truly say yes, they first need to be able to say no. Ask why, and find out how to solve the problem.

7. Have a Can-Do attitude. Look for ways to succeed. Most things can be accomplished by pulling your team together.

8. Create buy-in and welcome feedback. Demonstrate creativity and present novel ideas knowing you have the autonomy for decision making, and the confidence that those decisions will be valued.

9. Embrace the clients’ vision. Share ideas with the client without being pushy. Present ideas in a way that the client catches our enthusiasm, and feels that they are in control of the outcome.

10. Evaluate the problem and consider the solutions. Try to find the answer to your question on your own before calling another team member. Be prepared with possible solutions when there is a problem to solve.

11. Assume positive intent. When an email, text or message arrives, read it as if your coworker or client was standing next to you talking in a cheerful voice.
12. Speak with respect. Always talk such that you’d never be embarrassed if your grandma, your child or our client was listening.
13. Always look out for each other. Build each other up and be an encourager to your team. Speak kindly, teach each other, and when necessary, gently correct and reprove questionable behaviors.
14. Create an air of excitement. Promote progress, look for the best in things, be complimentary, and create a weekly WOW!
15. Surround yourself with positivity. What we put into our bodies and our minds influences how we feel and how we think. Make it good!
16. Be respectful. Empathize with our clients and team members.
17. Be on time. If you make an appointment, be there. Give ample time to get there. If you can’t be on time, make the person(s) aware and apologize.
18. Consider others’ feelings as our own. Never use backhanded compliments or undermining sarcasm. Nicknames should always be positive, complimentary, and welcomed by the recipient.
19. Value all your work. Take pride in everything you do. Help those around you to see the reward of doing the task at hand.
20. Manage your inbox. Learn the techniques that can keep you organized, efficient, and feeling up-to-date. Always reply to messages within 24 hours, the same day if possible.
21. Be transparent, truthful, and positive. Accept accountability. Share the whole truth, even if it’s difficult. Present it properly, in a positive light, and without spin.
22. Achieve best practices, not just minimum standards. We are a company full of people who strive to be the best!

23. While striving for perfection, first achieve excellence. There are times that it is most important to get something fully and properly completed, on time, without the marginal cost of going from excellence to perfection.
24. Do things right, even if it costs us. While perfection is not truly attainable, there is no alternative to making sure things are done correctly. When you do it right the first time, you won’t need to go back and do it again.
25. Grow in all aspects of life. Proactively seek professional, emotional, mental and physical health.
26. Work to live, don’t live to work. Take time to recharge and refresh.
27. Celebrate success. Catch people doing things right! It’s more effective than reprimanding someone for doing things wrong. Discover how to extend meaningful appreciation and celebration.
28. Care for your co-workers. Take time to get to know each other. Genuinely ask how someone is doing without prying, and sincerely listen. Don’t assume people don’t care just because they don’t ask, they might be afraid to ask. You can be the one to reach out to tell them about your own situation, the highs or lows.
Respect boundaries and differences.
29. Be playful. Be professional and safe with your fun. Make sure practical jokes aren’t wasteful or malicious and don’t ruin things, harm people, or hurt feelings. Keep it creative & fun!
30. Have fun. Look for ways to enjoy what you do and who you work with, in every situation.

Perfectionism is not the same thing as striving to be your best. Perfectionism is the belief that if we live perfect, look perfect, and act perfect, we can minimize or avoid the pain of blame, judgement, and shame. It’s a shield. It’s a twenty-ton shield that we lug around thinking it will protect us when, in fact, it’s the thing that’s really preventing us from flight.
